BEVERLY J. KLUG

Beverly Klug is a Professor Emerita at Idaho State University where she taught in the College of Education for 29 years before her retirement in 2014. During that time she developed a very strong record in teaching, research, and service. Prior to teaching in Idaho, she taught as an Assistant Professor at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma; as a Teaching Assistant at University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, Ohio; as a reading teacher for all grades in school districts in Southwest Ohio; and as a first grade teacher and a fifth grade teacher. Taken together, Dr. Klug has over 40 years of teaching experience.
Dr. Klug has worked with students of all ethnicities throughout her career. Her areas of expertise include literacy, special education, teacher education, Multicultural education, and Indigenous Education. Dr. Klug was on the Founding Board of Chief Tahgee Elementary Academy, a Shoshoni and Bannock Language Immersion Charter School. She then served on the Board of Trustees for an additional five years. During retirement, Dr. Klug has continued to teach elementary students, volunteered in teaching literacy and special education to adults, and has persisted in her writing activities. In addition, she is a member of the original Board for Read@ Home (readathome.org), the goal of which is to promote literacy and literacy activities for preschool through Early Childhood with children attending schools located on or near Indigenous Reservations throughout the United States using the motto, “Native Readers Become Strong Leaders!” She enjoys spending time with her Non-Native and Indigenous children and grandchildren and all of their families and relations.
